Beside Komodo Island, Labuan Bajo has a hidden gem in Rangko Village, called Gua Rangko or Rangko Cave. Located on Gusung Island, this limestone cave offers crystal clear blue water, perfect for you to swim inside the cave.
What Is So Special About Rangko Cave?
From the outside of the cave, it looked just like a regular small mouth-opening cave. To go inside, you’ll need to go down the steps, but be very careful on the rocks near the edge of the pond because they can be slippery. Once you are inside, you will see that on the ceiling of this cave is fully covered by the stalactites and stalagmites. The pond water is so blue and clear. It will be so peaceful to swim in there, and it is effortless for you to float in the salty water. The water there is filled with ocean water, which comes in through the small holes in between the rocks.
In December 2020, Weird Genius, an Indonesian DJ group, had a small concert in Rangko Cave, promoting the Wonderful Indonesia campaign by Kemenparekraf and Music Matters. Click here to see the full video.
