If you are still in the Komodo Island or Komodo National Park area, your first step is to travel to Labuan Bajo. From there, you can fly from Komodo Airport to the nearest airport to Raja Ampat, Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong. Note that there are no direct flights, but several airlines offer connecting flights with stopovers in major cities. Here are some flight options to consider:

A. Komodo Airport [LBJ] to Domine Eduard Osok Airport [SOQ] via Jakarta

Sorong to Raja Ampat 

After landing at Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong, you must continue your journey to Waisai, the capital city of Raja Ampat, by sea from Sorong Port. Taxis are readily available at the airport to take you to Sorong Port, with fares typically around USD 5.86, depending on the season. The ride takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Upon arrival at Sorong Port, you have two main transportation options to reach Waisai on Waigeo Island:

1. Ferry 

The ferry is the most commonly used mode of transportation to reach Waisai. Though slower, it offers a cost-effective solution with stunning views along the way. Ferries operate daily, usually sailing twice a day. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the weather. Be sure to check the ferry departure schedule in advance to plan your trip accordingly. 

2. Speedboat

For a faster journey, speedboats are the way to go. They are valued for their speed and efficiency, though they are more expensive than ferries. Keep in mind that speedboat availability at Sorong Port is limited, so it’s essential to check the schedule and availability before departure.
